    Beech 1900s at JFK!

    Hey all,

I was reading on another aviation forum which will remain nameless, and a thread talked about B1900D's flying for Delta until more Dash 8's become available. The Beech will fly on the JFK-BDL and JFK-PVD routes. Apparently they're coming from Air Midwest. Check out Delta.com's timetables and see for yourself!

    Pretty cool, huh?

I like how the 1900's look... occasionally we will get one in over at KTEB, and im always amazed how they took the King Air crosssection and turned it into an almost-stand up cabin, with some pretty cool looking gulfstream-esque windows

Yeah, that "almost stand-up cabin" is on the 1900D, which only got that way after Beech became the first manufacturer in history to stretch a cabin vertically instead of horizontally! Before that was the 1900C, which barely had enough room to hunch over, let alone stand up. And, oh yeah, don't trip over the wing spar! Anyone got a picture of an old Brockway 1900 lying around? I used to fly those EWR-SLK, with a stop in ALB on the way. After I got off, the plane would continue on to PLB and BTV. SLK and PLB were actually "on request" stops - if there was no one getting on or off there, they'd skip Saranac Lake and Plattsburg entirely and just go straight on to Burlington.

I flew them from MIA-EYW-MIA on CO Connection. Pretty spacious cabin and comfortable. Real quick turnaround times for these birds.

Where is DL going to park all these props/RJ's? Will they expand the "midfield" area that you take a bus to?

Really? My Instructor Pilot this summer flew the 1900s for CO connection (Gulfstream Airlines?), although I think he was based out of TPA. He was flying them in 2002-2003 IIRC and then got fired.

Wow I think your the first person I've heard to say the 1900 is a comfortable plane. I avoid them as much as I can.

For such a short flight they were fine. And I'm 6-1. The single-seat configuration meant no feelings of being cramped in by your seatmate, unlike a CRJ-200. Takeoff was powerful and flights were very smooth. Even better, I got to look at the flight deck during flight due to the lack of a cockpit door. Now, mind you, I probably wouldn't want to fly one of those here in the northeast in the winter. Now the 1900C is another story...a totally different experience.

And yes, I flew them under CO Connection (Gulfstream), back in 2001.

Those planes suck pretty bad, I have flown as pax on a few down here with Gulfstream and my buddy fly's them at Colgan, terrible plane to fly in the winter IFR muck, all hand flying and stuff. Pretty damn reliable though. Anyone see them out up there yet?

    Grow up!

    The 1900 is a TANK!

Was on one last year, MIA-MCO on CO connection.
Superb flight, granted it was blue skies.

ALB used to be 1900 central a couple of years ago with commutair using it as a micro-hub. Not as much action now.

I flew ALB-ROC and back on one of the 1900Cs in the late 80s. The only good thing: You get a aisle seat AND a window seat every time!

It's made by Beech, so of course it's a tank! I don't think anyone is complaining about the ruggedness of the airplane, but rather the torture tube that was the cabin of the 1900C. I've never been in the D, so I can't talk about its cabin, but with the vertical stretch, I can seen it being somewhat tolerable.
