    PANC 11/6/11

Had the opportunity to visit ANC with fellow NYCer Brandon and met up with local photog Bob. Good but cold times were had!

Sunrise & set over Canada...weird seeing the sun rise then start to set about five minutes later, than rise agin an hour after that

    Downwind from 7R

Light was crappy, but still got some keepers:

Even with bad lighting conditions you came away with some excellent shots Jeremy. ANC looks like a blast to spot at.

So how much time did you have to shoot? A few hours of light or enough to make a late fall trip worthwhile? Although from your shots, looks like it was worthwhile.

I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but when is the best time of year to take a spotting trip to ANC? I was just looking at packages on Orbitz and I can get a flight and hotel package for about $684 by going in the beginning of March. Is that a good time to go there?

Wow, gorgeous collection! As said, especially in those lighting conditions. I like the in-flight probe shot you got. The angled 747 photo is also a winner!

These next shots are hosted on Photobucket, so please excuse the quality downgrade til I get them up on flickr!-
The views of ANC are one to be breath taking!

The DHL/Kalita scheme! What a surprise

Wish the shots turned out better with this one, a real surprise to say the least-

Same ol Alaska, but interesting with the white clouds and well lit underbelly!

    Hows that for size!

    MMmm World Airways MD-11!

    UPS Cleaning the runway-

Hit with a little wind as he starts to rotate off the ground-

Nothing like kicking up a little snow!

That's all from me for now, hope to bring you some PHX shots next!

Awesome images Brandon. I gotta say you guys are really making it hard for me to decide where I'm going to take a spotting trip to after the new year. Between you guys showing pics of ANC and Mike showing pics of MIA, and my deire to hit up MEM on a weekday to get half the FedEx fleet anf 90% of their three holers, and Mark telling me how great LAX is....I don't know what I want to do.

Sorry to go on a rant there...Keep the images coming! Can't wait to see PHX shots.

No worries Manny, I can't afford to go international this year, so you didn't throw too many dings in there. I'm gonna save up to go international in 2013. I may end up combining my cousin and mine's plans to go to Germany for Oktoberfest with plans for spotting and make one hell of a week out of it in the fall of 2013.

ANC is also home to some of the last working round engine iron in America. Everts C46s, and DC-6s, Desert Air DC-3s, Trans Northern Super 3s,it is all good!!!
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!
