Not only should the case be dismissed, but she (and the lawyer who took the case) should be made to pay all court costs as well.
Its amazing what some people will do to try and make a buck these days.

BRING BACK THE KJFK/KLGA OBSERVATION DECKS
Of course, turbulence cannot be controlled and weather can pop up anytime, anywhere. She wasn't even injured, only citing "mental trauma"... bit of a stretch. We also don't know if it was truly "severe" or just typical moderate turbulence. Also, I'd like to hear from the doctor that actually diagnosed her with PTSD. Was anyone else on that flight affected? Why is she the only one?
But honestly, if severe turbulence was forecast in that area, the airline CAN be held liable. No pilot, passengers or not, wants to fly through that stuff, and them and dispatchers check for it before flights.
Here is what is forecast between 25,000 and 30,000ft later on at 0900z. See that band of purple? If an airline goes through that and someone gets ACTUALLY hurt (not just scared), I would even say the passenger might be justified for damages of some sort.

Phil on that graphic is that band of turbulence an actual storm front? Like would the severe purple be like a big cumulonimbus cloud with the anvil as high as 30,000 feet?

No that is only turbulence, and is not an indication of storms or precipitation. It could even be clear air turbulence! I'll have to go back and look at what was going on in that area to learn more.
