A pilot's midair heroics to rescue a parachutist dangling underneath his plane have landed him one of Britain's highest awards for bravery.
British pilot Garth Greyling was flying a Turbo-Islander light aircraft over Bad Lippspringe during the Army Parachute Championships when his team jumped into the German skies, London's Daily Telegraph reports.
Unbeknown to Greyling, the team's jumpmaster and last parachutist to exit, Maj. Jeremy Denning, became tangled in a 15-foot rope trailing the flight.
