    BWI 11/28/09-11/29/09

Another 2 day stint at BWI. Saturday was extremely slow...no special AT colors or WN schemes (a few nose jobs, though). Sunday was better, but the one NFL plane that came in was the one that I already got last time (Ravens 1). It seems to come to BWI a lot, compared to Falcons 1 and Colts 1. I wonder if it's specifically routed through BWI a lot on purpose, or if it's just been coincidence. Also saw "Orlando Makes Me Smile" and finally got WN's Slam Dunk One. Shockingly, I didn't see California One either day, but N347SW (old mustard rocket colors with beat up heart decal) seems to have taken its place. I saw it on arrival 4 times in 2 days. Other special WN planes included "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning", "Summer of Love", "Southwest Airlines 500th Boeing 737 aircraft", "2000th Boeing 737 Next Generation", "The Spirit Of Hope", and I believe the older Kidd's Kids plane (which I didn't shoot because of the clouds that moved in). Some low-res pics this time:

Such a great park to shoot at. Nice catch on the DC8!

Thanks, and yes, Friendship Park is great. Just wish they would build another parking lot on the opposite side for morning shooting. One can dream :D

Hmmm you caught 907WN, that bird has WiFi as seen by the bulge on top of her. I'd like to know the service WN is using compared to AA and DAL, none of their birds have a bulge like that. That really is large.

Southwest uses Row 44, which uses satellites, hence the bubble.

AA, Delta, AirTran and Virgin America (and soon United and Air Canada) use Aircell/GoGo, which connects to towers on the ground...the planes have an antenna on the belly.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Hi Cary, very nice shots. I meant to ask you the last time you posted BWI shots if you know if the Egypt AF C-130 is still coming in every other Monday?

    Thanks
    Bill

    Hi Bill,

Thanks. Unfortunately, I have no idea about the C-130's schedule. All I do know is I caught it on Monday (11/16), and a PHL spotter caught one on a Friday (11/6).

Haha, you can always walk over to the other side! There is a mini-golf course on the other side, which you probably saw. As long as you don't walk into the field (Which I've actually done a few times) the cops won't bother you. Friendship park is great, and I'm lucky to live 15 minutes away, in fact, my town is named after Friendship Airport!
