American Airlines to Install WiFi On Most Domestic Planes

American to add Wi-Fi service to domestic flights

    By Dan Reed, USA TODAY
Being online while being airborne is fast becoming reality for U.S travelers.

American Airlines (AMR) is announcing on Tuesday that it's joining rival Delta Air Lines (DAL) in making Wi-Fi Internet connections available to most domestic passengers.

American, No. 2 in the world in passenger traffic after Delta acquired Northwest Airlines last year, says it will equip more than 300 planes used primarily in the U.S. with high-speed Wi-Fi capability. Delta said in December that it would offer the service on its planes by the end of this year and on newly acquired Northwest planes by the end of next year. [Full Article]

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

FCC took their time approving the technology, that's the main reason. And of course Boeing's effort to deliver this type of service failed miserably.

I wouldn't be surprised if AA doesn't actually complete this effort for quite awhile. 300 planes at $100K per plane is a lot of dough in the short term, and they're not in great financial shape at the moment. VX hasn't even gotten around to outfitting all their planes yet, and they only have 28.
