FAA Going Ahead With NYC Airport Slot Auction

The FAA announced yesterday that they will auction slots at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports on Dec. 29th, despite hard line opposition from the Port Authority and a decree from the General Accounting Office that the auction might be illegal.

Here is the FAA's web page detailing the plan: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/hea ... _auctions/

This PDF is particularly interesting and details the process: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/hea ... cation.pdf
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
