Pics of 1st aircraft for Brazilian startup Azul !

With all the carriers large and small worldwide ceasing operations it's nice to see a new one preparing to take flight.

Here are a series of photos taken today from SDU of Azul's first Embraer, note the reg, probably related to Azul's founders previous employer.

Click on the aircraft reg for a few more photos.

This aircraft, as well as N290JB, have been leased from JetBlue until they receive their E195s.

Wow. Is there an actual relationship between the two airlines?

No there isn't besides the founder but that's where it ends. B6 needed to defer delivers of new aircraft and Azul needed new aircraft so they simply leased aircraft B6 wasn't ready to take. Skybus did the same thing with Virgin America. VX had planes they couldn't use and Skybus needed planes so they leased them from VX.

Wow that's great to see. I assumed they would ditch their plans once gas prices went crazy, but it looks like they plan to weather the storm. Too bad we wont see any of these in NY :D

Tommy, what do you mean that there isn't any relationship between both airlines besides the founder?

Azul in Portugeese means Blue. Founder of JetBlue started this airline in Brasil called Azul aka Blue.

There is no connection in terms of operations, etc. between the two airlines. Yes, Neeleman is taking many of the ideas he used at jetBlue at Azul, but the two airlines have no formal connections.

I really like the logo and the livery.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.

From what I understand we are leasing 2 E-190s and Selling 3 or 4 of our A/C that we were to take delivery of next year.

It's exciting to finally see a Brazilian airline operating Embraer aircraft!

It took the Brazilian Air Force long enough to put an ERJ-145 into their fleet... They are soon getting an E-190. I imagine it will be replacing the 737-200.
