    American to End JFK-STN Service

Another capacity reduction announced by AA today. Service between JFK and London Stansted will end July 2nd.

Yesterday, they announced the discontinuation of BOS-SAN, ORD-EZE and ORD-HNL.

American Eagle is parking all 26 of their Saabs (which will allegedly be replaced by RJs on some routes which doesn't make any sense unless the Saabs are leased) and repositioning most of their ATRs from San Juan to DFW as Caribbean service is reduced from 55 daily flights to 33.

Not surprised about the STN service, the one and only reason that service existed was to compete with MaxJet and EOS. I would have thought STN would have gone by the wayside even sooner.

Yep, not surprising. Sucks for people who want to save a few bucks and connect with Ryanair flights.

Word has it AE is dumping all the E135s as well. Those things will become Coke cans that's for sure.

Wasn't AA the only US carrier serving STN?

I think they were and its a real disappointment. If you have family East of London, then flying into LHR or LGW justs adds so much time to your journey upon arrival and as thats around M25 it could be 2-3 hours extra.

Too bad about the SAABs...I hope this isn't the end for the LAX-SAN/SBA/SBP flights--it makes NO sense to use RJs on those runs...

I'm guessing there are very few O&D pax on the SAN/SBA/SBP routes; all connectors to Hawaii/Tatl/etc service. It's the same reason CO flies routes like ALB/BWI/BDL/HPN-EWR.

I believe that AA has said they are shifting ERJs out to the west coast to cover Saab flying. I cant imagine the economics of that, but some of the flights already have Jet service for a few of their frequencies...SBP, SAN etc

I was hoping to see AA add cities, so I am really disappointed that they are going to cut Domestic Capacity. I had no idea about their financial situation though.
