Great article about the state of our nation's firefighting air force, with some real nice C-130 photos. Sadly, no mention of the Supertanker, but a bit about the DC-10 tanker.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
Interesting article, thanks for posting. Although most on this board have probably seen it, the 1989 movie "Always" has a lot of great air tanker footage and great sound effects, if you've never seen it, rent it.

Always, was ,is the TopGun for round engine pilots, with a much better plot line, and better actors.(though goose was cool)
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!
a magazine I art directed a few months ago did a profile on the pilots that fly the DC-10 tanker. cool photos we took, but alas, the website didn't use the. here's the link (might need to sign up to look)
