Female Adult Having Relations with Underage Boy

I saw a situation liek this on the news yet again. It's been showing upmore and more, and I am curious to see what you folks think.

SCENARIO: Female schoolteacher has sexual relations with a 15 year old boy.

How bad of a crime (if at all) do you think this is?

We see a lot fo women that do this get off with relatively small sentences as compared with when the genders are reversed. Do you think the double standard is fair?

Do you think that there is any REAL damage that is done to a 15 year old boy that experiences this?

The jokes are obvious, so try to be serious guys.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

I think it's more the issue of a teacher abusing her power on a student. I'm sure in most cases the teacher first approaches the student. In any case, the teacher is guilty.

It is true that women are given smaller sentences. While this seems like discrimination, there is a key point that needs to be made. In order for the "traditional" sexual relations to occur, certain conditions need to be in place for the male in order for him to have sex. (without being blunt, he needs to be aroused). This might show that he wants to have sex. This is generally not the case with a female (hence why there are many many many more females raped by males than vice versa.

I think this might be a reason of why women aren't punished as harshly because evidence shows that both parts have to play a more equal part in the sexual activity.

Arousal or not, there are 15 year old females that are underage and have "wanted" to do what they might do with an older man, but the law says they aren't old enough to consent.

Even aside from a teacher's stnadpoint, anolder woman can still be prosecuted for the same thing regardless of her profession, and would still face (or not face) the same weak punishment.

So you would feel the same way if this happened to your 15-year old daughter with an older man? If she was a "willing" participant, you would be fine with it? Somehow I doubt it.

Phil is right, whether this happens to an underage male or female, it is wrong, and society shouldn't "congratulate" the underage male when it happens.

I have to be honest. I think the double standardis THERE, but in some ways, it's a VALID double standard.

Do I think it damages little boys? Not at all. Unless he was lied to or deceived in some manner (which is a general relationship issue, not relevant to the partner's age), the boy will walk away with no emotional damage fromthe fact that his partner was twice his age.

HOWEVER, the fact that a grown woman has resorted to such sexual deviance as to desirre and follow through with sex with a 15 year old, that says a lot and it should remain illegal.

Though both should be punished, I do kind of agree that the older woman's punishment beless than the older man's, as I do feel that the a female minor receives damage from the older man.

I just finished reading a book called Impulse in which one of the main characters (age 16) sleeps with a teacher and it really screws him up and he even ends up trying to off himself.

I'd say it would fcuk up the kid because he might fall in love with the teacher and in reality he could never be with her.

I don't really think at this point it matters if it screws with the kid or not. Point is a 15 year old boy having sex with his teacher is wrong, and should not happen. If it is illegal for a 17 year old to have sex with a 15 year old, why in the world would this be OK for a teacher to have sex with the student?

I mostly have to agree with Phil and RDU-JFK here.

There *is* a double standard, however, there are some physiological factors that can't be ignored as well as cultural norms that obtain in our society that may often suggest a teenage boy is more likely to be less harmed by this situation (if it all) than a teenage girl. Very broadly speaking that is.

I agree with Moose as well though. This isn't a joke. And it could be - in some cases - a risk to a male minor.

I believe it should remain a crime and punishable, however, I am disturbed at a few of the harsh sentences I have read recently.

[Why on earth are these offenders being sentenced to 5, 10 or 20 years in jail when some stranger can pick up a stick while walking down the street and poke your eye out for absolutely no reason and serve a fraction of the time? Makes no sense to me.]

AS a society we have to protect children (of course) and we have to protect teenagers as well, but we are in denial in my opinion to keep mixing up "children" with "teenagers" - it is not at all the same thing and courts and laws etc. should reflect this reality and consider each case carefully - and separately.

    My 2 cents only.

Something I've found interesting that most of the cases have in common: these aren't ugly teachers who can't get laid... nearly every teacher getting busted would be considered by most people to be very attractive.

And that's just it....they love the attention that they get from the kids...albeit 15 year olds.

These teachers pretty themselves up. Just like anyone....they love that they are admired by the kids.
