    interesting JFK tower transmission.

I just heard the tower say:

"JetBlue XXX, if you have anything shut down, start it up"

He was probably holding for a clearnce of some sort and it came through so in case he was sitting idle with like just the APU running or somthing the tower prob. was adviseing him to get ready to go or somthing like that.

I am sure this flight was on an ATC hold for their destination airport and parked somewhere off the gate on a taxiway. Often times the engines will be shut down to save fuel, the controller just gave a courtesy call to let them know they would be cleared to taxi very shortly as engine start could take 2 to 3 mins. Very common almost daily occurrence at LGA. I hope this helps ?

I've mostly been listening to FRG instead of JFK at work, but I listened to JFK almost exclusively for a few months. Sometimes, they'll be a plane waiting for a clearance, or for something, after they've started taxiing to the runway. I've heard pilots ask the tower (in the case of clearance delays, or route holds) for how long they'll be waiting, to determine whether or not to shut down the engines. This particular type of transmission ("start it up") is, as others have said, probably just a heads up that they'll be on the move soon and should be ready to go.

Yes, the FRG feed is from liveatc.net; I realized that on the "Audio feeds" page there are links for each of Class B/C/D airspace, and only Class B are shown at first. FRG is on the Class D page (http://www.liveatc.net/feedindex.php?ty ... s-d-center) and the link to the FRG feed is http://audio.liveatc.net:8012/kfrg.m3u.
