The A 310 in the USA

Up until recently, I never really cared for small Airbuses and only liked seeing the 330 and 340. But now having seen the CSA 310 come in, I have really grown to love this plane.

Who else has used it in the USA? I recently saw a few photos that Delta had them but who else. What routes did they utilize most?

Well Fed Ex runs the majority if I am not mistaken and alot of East European carriers fly it. Delta did get a grip of them from PanAm at one point as we.. AirJamiaca had a bunch of them flying around for several years as well between mo bay the US and UK. Really other than that you have to liik to the military in Canada or Europe to see alot of them.

I have always been a fan of the A310. I wish more airlines still had them.

They are certainly up there in nice airliners they even have IFE on some. One thing I noticed is that the AOA is very high at low airspeeds in that bird on final approach when we would land at Montego Bay in them for instance it almost felt like the captain was getting ready to go missed lol.

Not sure of the routes but Delta did use them (most likely on Euro trips)
Pan Am used them before that. Don't forget UPS they also fly the A310F
Air France used them for a while back in the 80's....that's all I can remember now.

UPS flys the A-300-600F but Delta ran them to the UK and Germany mainly till their demise in the fleet

For those of you who have only been active local spotters for the last few years prior to the advent of the A-330 the A-310 was actually a pretty frequent visitor at JFK with numerous European carriers flying them. As mentioned above for a short period of time Pan Am flew many European routes with the aircraft from JFK. I have only flown on one once, JFK-DUS on LH in Biz. Great flight, was given complimentary LH Senetors club access at JFK, and was also granted a cockpit visit mid flight and again for the dark arrival in DUS. At the time LH flew them to both DUS and TXL nonstop from JFK, this was I believe in the mid 90's. The aircraft I flew on like most of the former LH 310 fleet is now with Fedex !

Doesn't Royal Jordanian Cargo bring in the A310 a bit?

yessir they do I am not sure what the schedule is but they certainly do

Another airline that brings in the A310 to JFK is Air Plus Comet.

I always liked the A310 because it's relatively small but the Airbus cabin cross section makes it feel particularly roomy.

Not sure if it ever gets down to the NYC area but SATA (Air Azores) has an A310 on a regular schedule between BOS and Ponta Delgada. Must be an interesting flight.

I believe Delta flew some of the ex PAA aircraft on longhaul domestic flights for awhile, I remember flying a Delta A310 (with a former Pan Am cabin crew) between JFK and PDX in about 1995.

Emirates also used to have a bunch of them that they flew from DXB to Europe and Asia as well as around the Middle East back when there was less demand for DXB flights. Today I think the 310 would be considered too small for their current fleet, but I had a nice experience flying one from DXB-SIN-MEL and reverse in around '97, they even had PTVs in economy back then.

I was looking at more photos and didnt know that the 310 does not have the joystick but the more traditional yoke.

The Azores flight also runs out of YYZ.

Air Transat, Air Algerie, and Air India are the other major 310 operators, but the largest single fleet belongs to Fedex, with 68 (over a quarter of 310s ever built). There are no US-regged pax carriers remaining.
