    New Tower Approved at LGA

The FAA today approved the new tower at LGA and its being reported construction may very well begin as early as next month. I hope they don't take the old tower down.

They could charge admission and use it as a spotting tower. I think not, but I can dream. Good to hear they are getting a new one though.

schmuck doesn't know a cessna from his ass... and they better not tear the old one down!!
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Based on the location of the new one . When I was last in a meeting there I was told it would be on the street side , very close to the location of the old gas station , so I would imagine the current one will eventually have to come down , although it is integrated into the A concourse so that may be quite a challenge

I learned that the old tower will be torn down.

Here are some renditions of the new one that were posted on the architect's website:

Darn, thats so sad.. .the ToothBrush and the Lighthouse gone just like that...

Well, maybe they can tear it down, and rebuild it at the Cradle of Aviation.... whoever "they" is... guess not...

This is really sad news, it will be interesting to see how this affects AA ops at D. LGA will never be the same. :(

First teh stained glass facade of AA at JFK, now the new tower at LGA. TOo bad no one considers the past anymore. I liked LGA tower's feel.

THe one aspect of LGA that I have always loved are AA's hangars wit h the old style lettering. Classic.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.
