US/HP Retro A-319 Now in Service Thursday 9-7

Well the final US Retro Scheme took to the skies today (Thursday 9-7) and while the scheme would probably look better on a longer aircraft I still think it looks great !

You will not see this one in LGA till everything is merged later in 2007 but occasional JFK appearances are very likely, although currently I have no access to aircraft routings for the West aircraft.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

    Quite right. :)

I had been crossing my fingers for such a long time hoping that one day this classic scheme would return to the skies. Now I really can't wait for my PHX trips in October and November! :)

Absolutely stunning!! I like Josh truly loved this classic America West Airlines scheme.

I flew to PHX alot, and still do and when I was arriving and saw these creme colored AWA planes I KNEW I was in Phoenix! :)

I flew America West twice to PHX and SWA the other 3 times.

a Grand airline and certainly exciting to see flying.

I've never seen the old HP colors in person, but I have to say...that looks downright awesome! :)

Pretty weird how ship 828 was repainted from the "new colors" into the "old colors"...not going to see that kind of regression too often, especially nowadays.

Course anything that happens out west happens in Vegas...

I about sh** my pants when I drove by and saw 828's tail sticking out from behind a themed AW 757. Thirty minutes later she pushed and I got my shots as she departed..

Lucky week for me seeing my birthday is right around the corner..

Great looking plane, I remember seeing their 747s at JFK in those colors, that was a wild sight.

Good point! I would love to see ATA do that.

That AmWest scheme is very very cool.

Awesome shot there Dave!! This airline gets me more excited about these heritage planes and makes me want to try US Airways out and share the feeling of creating these airlines once again.

Good job US for doing that you have my respect for that.

Now if AA did one for TWA Tom and I would **** our pants.

From US Daily (US Employee Newsline)

SAVE THE DATE: RETRO AMERICA WEST PLANE TO BE DEDICATED

Think you’re having an ‘80s flashback? Employees in LAS were the first to see the old (we’re talking maroon and blue) America West heritage livery. Just like the Allegheny, Piedmont and PSA heritage planes before it, we’ll dedicate the newest throwback livery on Nov. 2 in LAS and Nov. 3 in PHX. More details will come as we get closer and photos are now available on awaCompass (Home page: under "Other Links > Heritage Aircraft") and theHub (Home page: under "Check This Out > Heritage Aircraft").

    Cheers
