Aeromexico 737-800 to JFK Starting 10/1 (Flight Correction)

Starting on October 1st Aeromexico will be sending their brand new 737-800's to JFK on a daily basis from MEX.

Is that I assume for the MEX service? In June I flew back from MEX on their 757 and was told the 75s are leaving the fleet so I guess eventually all of their JFK flights will be 737s. I miss the days you could fly JFK-MEX on a widebody, I remember an Eastern L-1011 at one point, but I am dating myself!

Very interesting news, I had not even heard they had ordered 738's so then they will be in the new colors. And yes the old day where cool when EA operated the L-1011 JFK-MEX-ACA and return. One of my former colleague's at work just retired but she used to be a JFK based EA Flt Att and she often told EA stories and MEX and ACA where always her favorite layovers !

    Cheers

Royal got a pretty decent shot of the first Aeromexico 737-800 up at Boeing Field.

Bit of a change, instead of Aeromexico 405 being the 737-800 it looks like Aeromexico 403 is the 737-800 flight. Apprently the firsit visit was on Sept. 24th!

I remember Aeronaves de Mexico DC-8's ,orange, and bare metal, screaming overhead into JFK,talk about dating ones self !
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

OK, nerdy exotic spotting story time. For years I had always been puzzled by a seemingly impossible childhood memory of an Eastern flight back from MEX that was operated by a Tristar in Air Canada livery, it always stood out because at that age I know for sure I had never even been to Canada. Well, thanks to a little recent research on one of the aviation photo sites (ok, it was a.net) I discovered that there was in fact an L-1011 that was sort of seasonally shared by both carriers back in the '70s. Anyway, I am sure it's been a long time since there have been any US-Mexico passenger flights operated by a widebody or, in the case of the DC-8, a quad jet....That said. Aeromexico generally provides a good service on the JFK-MEX run, great food and drink in premium cabin of international longhaul quality and economy's not bad either vs. competing product. Now with the new aircraft it will be even better.
