To the untrained eye, winglets look sexy and downright elegant—aircraft without them suddenly seem less modern, a bit dated. On a sunny day early in May, an American Airlines Boeing 757-200 rolled out of AA’s maintenance base in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The pair of winglets that went onto the American 757 happens to be special: it is the 1,000th shipset to be delivered by Aviation Partners Boeing.

The rumor mill at US is the three ex ATA ETOPS 757's and the three (631,632,633) East 757 that are slated for ETOPS conversion over the winter will be receiving winglits. Perhaps in the future if this does in fact happen, the whole fleet of 757's will be converted !
