Emirates A380 Route: Dubai to JFK?

I've heard lots of people talk as though JFK wouldn't see A380 service for a long time after it's revenue launch. But an Airliners magazine blurb suggests otherwise.

"[Emirates] is now looking forward to its first A380 delivery in April 2007. It has ordered a total of 45 Super Jumbos, and it is planning the first route to New York - JFK."

It also states that Emirates is the launch customer, which would imply that JFK might be a launch route for A380 revenue service, no?

I actually thought SQ was the launch customer and was supposed to be the first to fly revenue service ? As far as JFK I am under the impression that CDG-JFK is to be the first A-380 route at AF, if I am wrong anyone feel free to correct me !

That article is wrong. As Ron said, SQ is the launch customer. Check out pics of F-WWDD in SQ colors on a.net....the fuselage says "First to Fly A380." As such, I suspect JFK will not be the airport seeing the launch service for the A380.

    That's what I was thinking.

But still, I expect to see some kind of A380 service or visits before 2008.

I was under the impression that LAX was well behind in upgrades to the airport in order to handle the A-380...has this changed?

Apparently they are working really hard on getting the airport A380 ready. Apparently the A380 is sopposed to visit LAX sometime in August.
