Maybe a lease especially with Hanukkah...
Sounds like 4X-ELS. That's the only ElAl 744 I can find that has the paint scheme you're referring to.
This photo of 4X-ELS with this "reduced" scheme at EWR was taken March 2005, so I don't think it's a holiday lease.

yes thats it, maybe they keep it simple to be able to cover up it identy quickly when they have to and have been know to do
