Dennis and I were at Inwood CC for a little while before AF1 came in. A few minutes before she arrived, the NCPD helicopter landed nearby and they approached us. As Dennis wrote in the blotter section, they asked us for ID and gave us a bit of a yelling at for being there. No harm done, we just didn't get any pics of her. What can ya do.

The last few times AF-1 has come in the NCPD have had a large presence in the Inwood area. The last time I was at Inwood Park there was BSO unit (unmarked car) sitting in Inwood CC by the water and two marked 4th precinct units in Inwood Park.

The one encounter I had with the officers in the park they were total gentlemen, I even emailed them a few shots and the link for this site.

But getting the helicopter to land, that is pretty good. Was it the NCPD copter or was it the "grey" secret unmarked copterthat sweeps the area priorto AF-1's arrival.

Been noticing more aggressive action with AF1 lately, in LAS they have started closing down the Sunset viewing area and kicking everyone out which IIRC they never did.

Also seems they fly Marine One to Randall's Island rather than Wall St. every time now.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I doubt it - they were on the ground long before that, and really, they only hold traffic at JFK for a few minutes. You delay was more likely caused by the low ceilings forcing everyone to fly the ILS all day, reducing the arrival rate.

That grey secret unmarked helo is more than likely NYPD 23, their "unmarked" Bell 412. Secret Service relies on the local LEO aviation units to ferry them around during Presidential visits.

Check the LiveATC archives. I was listening for AF1 on JFK Tower, and they have NC "PD5" looking to land at Inwood CC to "check 2 guys out." IIRC it was in the 1630 time range.
