It was closed many years ago when they replaced it with another NYC airport about 10 minutes away for increased runways for Jet traffic. You may know of this airport that replaced Floyd Bennett Field. It is call John F Kennedy INTL airport or JFK and is right around the corner.
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Flight aware shows it never took off for JFK. We may or may not see it this week. Need to keep an eye out

Take the Belt Parkway west to Cross Bay Blvd south. FBF will be on your left. If you get to the toll plaza, you went too far...

Other than NYPD helicopters, the next thing to show up over there will be this C-54, when it returns for winter maintenance in December...but it wouldn't kill you to spend a little time touring the HARP restoration hangar either.

Do you need access for that or can you just walk on?

Actually the next special visitor to FBF will be the 1911 Ely-Curtiss Pusher in May, when it's there for the Centennial of Naval Aviation celebration during Fleet week !!

    Question:

Since FBF does not have an "operating" tower, was this take-off under the control of JFK tower?
