it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
So, when are all the other brave SAR pilots who put their life on the line, but aren't born to some deluded family going to get their own articles?

Actually, by doing some research, military service is a requirement in order for him to be eligible for the throne. So it's not so much as he's 'setting himself aside' as it is he's mainly self-serving so he might be crowned king one day, from my observations.
Who cares if he is doing it because he has to or because he wants to? The fact is that he's doing it 100% & not trying to duck any of his responsibilities.
What's the difference between a career firefighter and a volunteer firefighter? One gets paid to do it as a job & the other donates his time. The bottom line is that in either case, if they save a life, they're heroes.
This is the same analogy.

As I was typing I suspected that might be the case. But if he were merely self serving and just trying to essentially fill a credential for hte throne, he could have taken the easy way out and driven a desk in the military.
I respect him for putting himself in harms way.

I am actually surprised they "allow" him to partake in such a high risk career path. Lets face it, there are a lot less dangerous ways he could fulfill his "obligation". Its not a matter of if, but when he will become King.
Well, kinda...though, when you think about it, flying the Sea King is really one of the few things where he can be pretty much promised he won't be sent into combat. I'm not really even sure if there are Sea Kings deployed over there.
Actually reading some biography of William he also served in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Fleet Air Arm. He wanted active service but because of his position that was out of the
question. And I dont consider flying SAR missions up in the mountains or North Sea area cushy. And his brother Harry wasnt allowed to serve in Iraq because of threats to him but did
deploy to Afghanistan. You can blast the Royal family all you want but these two boys have done more in their young lives than most do in their whole lifetime.
I give the guy credit. He's a helo pilot so he's ok with me.
LOL it must run in the family. His father flew helicopters and fixed wings, his uncle (Prince Andrew) is a helicopter pilot and instructor and flew during the Falklands War and his brother
Harry earned his flying wings this year and wishes to train in the Apache.
