    UA Downgrades JFK-LHR to 763

I don't think this was covered, but if it was I apologize.

FlyerTalk is reporting UA starting 10/4 and thru the end of service, JFK-LHR will be a 763.

763 should be a nice variety, even if it's just for a few months.

Interesting, I guess they are starting to wind down even earlier than scheduled. I used to go out of my way to fly the UA763 when it was on some of the transcon flights a couple of years ago, especially in business it was nicer than anything else on the route because it had the transatlantic configuration, but with no PTV in economy it's a step down for anyone used to the 777 to LHR and not very competitive with what VS, BA and AA offer on the route. It's just for a few weeks and then everything goes through IAD but if I had bought a ticket expecting the 777 (in any class) I'd not be too happy about the equipment sub.

With LHR going away their probably redeploying the bird early.

Here's a UAL 767 at JFK recently (Shameless self plug)

Be on the look out though for a new color 767 perhaps.

    Thomas, you are a *****!

I was just discussing this last night with someone. Soon, all of United's 777 will be gone from JFK.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Call me crazy but despite having a whole lot of miles with competing carriers that fly JFK-LHR, I always wanted to fly UA's 777 to LHR so I could listen to Channel 9 over there. Guess now I'll just have to go to IAD first!

They are switching from 777 to 763 because that bird will do flights to Kuwait from IAD.

Channel 9 will be cool over Kuwait (if they leave it on), but that's going to be like a government and contractor shuttle, not much in KWI for anyone else. Wish they had gone for the DXB route that DL gave up after 9/11 but I guess EK meets all the demand right now and they must have some solid contracts for KWI that give them a good idea of the profitability of that route.

And yes, I know Ch 9 is on the 767 as well, but I'm not going to London (unfortunately) anytime before December or January. Plus, I want my PTV :)

Contrary to what many people believe Kuwait City is actually pretty nice, and is very modern (rebuilt after the Gulf War) and is home to much more business than just US affairs.
