As part of their recently announced dive into scheduled service, Orlando, Fla.-based National Airlines has announced passenger service from Long Island’s Douglas MacArthur Airport to two airports in Puerto Rico.

National Airlines will be operating one flight daily (except Tuesdays), alternating between the destinations of Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan (SJU/TJSJ) and Rafael Hernández Airport in Aquadilla (BQN/TJBQ), starting July 1, 2016. These flights are in addition to a just-announced doubling of their flights from Orlando Sandford International Airport (SFB/KSFB) to both San Juan and Aguadilla, which also begin this March.

These flights will be operated on Boeing 757-200 aircraft, powered by Rolls Royce RB-211 engines. According to National’s website, their two 757s have 184 and 170 seats, respectively, with about two dozen first class seats in a 2×2 configuration. The remainder of their seating is in a 3×3 coach setup.

Long Island’s Douglas MacArthur Airport has a large Southwest Airlines presence, with American Airlines being the only other airline that operates there (through regional flights operated by Piedmont Airlines).

National Airlines was born in 2008, having flown passenger and cargo service with their 747-operating sister airline, National Air Cargo.
