• Airbus has sued Aviation Partners Boeing in a fight against the patent of their winglet design, which Boeing says is being copied by Airbus. [Reuters via Airwise]

• NASA’s New Horizons probe, launched in 2006, is now the closest that a spacecraft has ever come to Pluto. It’s not quite there yet though. It has a mere 1.5 billion kilometers to go, and is expected to reach the distant dwarf planet in 2015. [UniverseToday]

• Cathay Pacific Cargo has placed into service its first Boeing 747-8F. of their ordered 10, showing off the special scheme at a ceremony for the unveiling of a new Honk Kong cargo terminal. [WorldAirlineNews]

• Qatar Airways CEO Al Baker warns Airbus that they are late in the cargo game as they are slow to offer freighter conversions of Airbus A330-200s, of which Airbus is looking to produce directly instead of rebuilding existing airframes. [FlightGlobal]
