IndiGo would be the first customer for the A320neo, which Airbus plans to start delivering in 2016. The new version is slated to deliver 15 percent fuel savings through the use of newly designed engines and other improvements.

The deal would be the largest order in history by number of aircraft, according to Airbus. At list prices, the order would be worth $15.6 billion (€12 billion).
