BRING BACK THE KJFK/KLGA OBSERVATION DECKS
Manny that's a very well-composed shot, those buildings add a nice touch
Thanks William.
Actually, I don't like plane in blue sky as much as plane in environment shotsHowever, at JFK these opportunities are few... even for the shot above, it is a suicide shot at best as there is not any other spot where one can easily achieve this look. I really wish JFK would build a spotting deck once again as they pioneered back in the early days of KLGA and KJFK where the deck was one of the most popular features of the airport. It easily help marry the tech to the public in a much more human way than the herding through terminals and security checks it has become.
Look at any well designed airport where the passengers are afforded a panoramic view of the goings on outside and you will find a lot more people than expected enjoying the view. For some it is the technology, yet for others, it is the fear and then there is the admiration by those who do not understand how a very large piece of metal can gracefully remove itself from gravity and fly ...
let me stop before I get sentimental!

BRING BACK THE KJFK/KLGA OBSERVATION DECKS
I remember paying like a quarter or something to go through a turnstile and get onto a platform @ JFK when I was a kid, my Dad took me but I don't remember exactly where it was. Sing it for me now, "Those Were The Days..."
What can I say... My fondest and most memorable was the LGA observation deck... also the KHPN deck (although I did have ramp access at HPN for a few years back in early 1990s) and the smell of jet fuel is still a fond memory. I would always offer myself to the family to drive anyone to the airport or pick someone up. I did not care about the absolute nightmare traffic in to or out of LGA or JFK because I knew I would go upstairs to the deck to get a nice fresh smell of jet fuel LOL
