    Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia

    Hi Mirrodie & all,

Thankyou for taking an interest in our airport here, we live in the most isolated capital city in the world which does attract some very interesting aircraft from all over the world. Of which
one happended to drop in today, arriving at 11.00hrs (WST) from Christchurch, New Zealand
was US Navy Boeing E-6A Mercury 163919 c/n 23892 using the callsign of 'Razz 087'. The last
E-6A to visit Perth was way back in June of 1998.

Here she is moments from touch down on Rwy 21 today.

Best Regards to all, and the brunette stays!

Internationally acclaimed three time Grammy winners 'The Black Eyed Peas' today became part of music & avaition history as they boarded Virgin Blue flight DJ9001 from Melbourne to Perth where the cheeky Aussie airline & the Black Eyed Peas, created the 'Mile High Karaoke' cruising along at 41,000 feet.

In what is set to become an Australian first, the Black Eyed Peas, touring nationally in October will jam live during the four hour non-stop flight to Perth, ahead of their final Australian concert on Saturday evening.

The aircraft B737-8FE VH-VUA was specially modified for the mile high performance, with a team of more than 50 including engineers, technicians, and staging professionals transformed the aircraft into a unique venue.

To mark this special occasion nearly 140 VIP guests, including 30 winners from a nationally run competition joined the 'peas' for this once in a life time opportunity, the aircraft features a specially designed decal fitted to its fuselage. (see photos below)

    Thanks for viewing...Hiflyer

I want to take my child to see some planes close up like this (actually, it's the child's idea, but I'm a pushover for adventures particularly if they involve minimal expense and provide photos for talking about later). We're going on our first aircplane flight together soon and the talk about "my airplane daddy!" is incessant :-)

I've had a look on google maps and I *think* runway 21 is the northmost runway? 24 is clearly marked on the end of the runway to the east, but the number's a bit blurry on the photo of the other runway near guildford cemmetary road. Where can you park to see the planes without getting hassled/ticketted? We're going to Jandakot for an outing this week but it's the big commercial jets that we want to watch fairly close up and take photos of.

EDIT: just did a zoom at the other end of the runway and 03 is clearly visible, so it is indeed runway 03/21 that I was looking at. Is it possible to access the end near where it's labelled 03 off Tonkin Highway? There seems to be a road going up near mile swamp there.

    TIA!

    Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia

outrider sorry for the late reply!

Perth Airport's main North / South Rwys are 21/03 & East / West Rwys 24/06.

Rwy 21 'MOUND' area is still accessable about a 15min walk to get there walking along outside boundary perimetre fenceline and down a track & thru some bushland.

Be warned however that two variety of snakes habitat this area; Tiger & Dugite both are
venomous and their bites can be deadly! If a hot / warm day hat, sunscreen, water, is required.

Rwy 03 photos can be obtained from Kewdale Industrial area in Bradford Street (am) & Glassford Rd (pm) for arrivals. Departure photos not that good as aircraft too high & would be shooting right underneath!

Carpark near Gate 4 'Domestic side' of airport, you can park your car right up to near the fenceline and can observe arriving aircraft landing on Rwy 24, photography is possible thru the fencewire & aarrgh the smell of Avgas is everywhere.

Hope this helps a little & apologies for again for the late reply!

    Cheers Hiflyer

    Gidday all,

    JANDAKOT AIRPORT:

On 17th October, 18x former RSAF (Republic of Singapore Airforce) Siai Marchetti S.211 jet trainers
were trucked from RAAF Pearce to Jandakot Airport.

    The aircraft in storage are: 338, 339, 340, 342, 344, 345, 347, 348, 349, 380, 381, 386, 391, 392, 394, 398, 399, 389 two other aircraft 385 & 386 have been sold and re-registered to become VH-BRQ & VH-BQY respectively.

Here are the aircraft parked up in open storage awaiting thier fates, most are likely to be parted out!

Isnt Jandakot like the busiest airport (GA) in Australia?
