As Matt said you have to separate the musician and the person.
He was a great musician who from all accounts had an overbearing and sometimes abusive father - which probably explains much of his abnormal behavior as an adult.
It's a shame his legacy will be tarnished by his behavior outside of the "music industry".
All I can say is I liked most of his music. Will leave it at that.
