How about something from a train cockpit?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.

i've always wanted to have an EICAS in a car. i feel so withrawn from my truck because the minimalistic instrument cluster doesn't tell me enough of what's going on with it. i like knowing what's working and what's not, and what is causing the CHECK ENGINE light to come on. with all the technology in new cars these days it's surprising that something like this hasn't come along yet. i've even talked it over with a few people who know cars, they agreed that it would be useful but reminded me how it would impact a mechanic's bottom line if he couldn't cheat people for fixing un-broken things on thier cars...
    :D

that's part of the reason i want an old car. they're simpler to operate and fix. if only boeing built SUVs...
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Or you could just drive a car in which the check engine light never illuminates. Well, that's my motto at least.

They do, or at least they build giant lasers to go on the back of SUVs :D Your problems on the LIE would clear right up one way or the other if you were pimpin one of these around: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technol ... 31116.html

Actually, Boeing, in a joint venture with Textron, is bidding on the massive Humvee replacement contract. So in 20 years maybe you'll be able to pick up a surplus Boeing SUV.

In the meantime you can jerry rig a Boeing turbine designed for a boat into a car like this guy did:

How about one of those little "final word" with the 4 buttons that screams profanity....but instead modify it with the ground proximity warning "woop woop....pull up" sounds. Change your interior light to red and put red LED's over the break pedal and under the glove box, Have an mp3 of the 400hz noise in the cockpit (but play it really low). Also, do not forget genuine Peanuts for the authentic feel and it will also work for a short term air freshener by only opening 1/8th of an inch of the bag. But if you pull over to pick up FOD in the road, you have finally went too far. IMHO

    One more...
Rig the sound of the autopilot disengage (wine wine).... to the cruse control light....every time the light goes out it triggers the sound.
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

The problem is that 99.99% of drivers don't care what caused the light to come on, they just want to get it fixed. Car companies aren't going to spend money on something that people don't use or want to pay extra for. And many newer cars do have sophisticated reporting systems, but they are only accessible via dealer computer.

I can give you a " remove before flight " streamer, or something.

I've got one of those on my motorcycle, and it is most certainly an excellent addition.

How about taking some inspiration from the River Rattlers '69 Ford Torino fastback.
