I was at Costco from about 1315-1500. The wind was going through me so I left before the "party" started. BTW, that trailer parked along the fence, is that something new COSTCO is doing to keep us out of there, or just a coincidence?

Here were my highlights from the day...taken with my early Christmas gift, the Digital Rebel XTi:

I knew I'd catch this baby one day!

Those are nice shots, lijk. How do you like the 400D? I was thinking about buying it for myself. I work at Circuit City and I get a $300 discount. :D

$300 discount on what? The Rebel? The Rebel doesn't have that kind of magin. No way is the landed cost on the Rebel $300 below MAP.

Honestly, it's the first time I used it. I love the bigger screen (over the XT) and how can you argue with 10.2 Megapixels? It's easy to use, and lighter than the 30D. Now, I am not knocking the 30D at all, and without actually taking photos with a 30D myself, I cannot say if it is just as good or not, you have to look at what you have seen posted and decide for yourself. I just felt for my personal use, the XTi (400D) is just what I wanted, and the price made it an easy decision.

It's not through the in-store discount. Canon has promotions within the two companies on certain cameras and lenses to purchase through a fax-in rebate. My manager then gives the go-ahead and they send it to me. It's pretty much like advertising. While I'm talking with customers, the agreement with Canon and the store is that I try and promote Canon more than Nikon or Olympus. Nikon, Panasonic and Olympus have similar deals, but they are only for the D200 with Nikon which is still too expensive for me, and Panasonic and Nikon only offer lenses. Samsung, LG and other electronics manufacturers. Canon is the only one I'm interested in. T-Bird, if you're interested, I'll take a picture of the form that shows the listed cost of the XTi. I'm not trying to be a pain. I promise.

Damn, everybody posted shots from this afternoon but I didn't see anybody (except Senga) at Costco hehe
I was there from 7:30am until 4:15pm - I'm pooped, just got back home from IAD. I love JetBlue's E-190s - they just gained another customer. They only thing that I hate about JFK is 1.25minutes taxi to runway 31L for departure hehe
Later I'll post some shots from this morning :)

Rebates are a whole other ball game. That's the vendor giving money back not the store. Trust me I was in that biz for a good period of time, I know margins on electronics are razor thin.
