Emirates Cancels Entire A350 order (70 frames)
The title says it all. I was stunned, I actually laughed aloud because I thought my friend was joking when he told me. But it is quite serious. Not sure if it is a blow to Airbus, if the deposits are transferred to the A380 orders placed at the Dubai Show, and if they are able to resale these slots. Also not sure if this is a victory for Boeing, who may not pick up any new orders if this is Emirates deciding they had too many frames on order, or if the freed slots cause them to loose future RFP's (Delta anyone?)

That's OK, Emirates will just buy another 100 A380's instead since they don't have enough of those

The A350s were supposed to be used to run the types of secondary markets that QR and EY do, but Emirates doesn't serve (as well as an expansion into second and third-tier Chinese cities). My guess is that in 2020, many of the routes that were supposed to be Emirates 350 routes will be served instead by FlyDubai on secondhand 330s.
