Emergancy landing at EWR after getting hit by lightning

A JetBlue flight from Boston to West Palm beach makes an emergancy landing at EWR after getting strucked by lightning at about 11pm Friday night, The A320 circled around JFK burning some fuel and safely lands at EWR. No one was injured

With JFK being their main MTC base and with so many more A-320's to swap with there I wonder why they went to EWR instead of JFK, unless JFK was below minimums at the time? Worked at LGA for about 14 hours Friday PM into the wee hours of Saturday AM and we were below minimums multiple times, never had any lightning though. Much stronger winds than were forecast.

That must have been the last batch of rain that came through around 11. Didnt hear/see any T-Storm activity out here in eastern Nassau County. There was a report of a water spout off Fire island around 7PM moving northward but didnt hear much mnore about that.
