BOS 8-2-12 [Missed The 787]

Went out to BOS this morning to catch the JAL 787. Naturally, there was a last minute runway change out of nowhere from 22L to 27, and I missed it :-(

Sorry that happened to you at Logan... Seems they are doing the 22L to 27 more often. The 787 was restricted from 27 when the service started. Now the 787 has been using 27 for arrivals

Bah! Wish I had known that yesterday. Any reason for the 27 preference? It's a shorter runway, no?

27 is 7000ft and 22L is 10000 ft, Some of the heavies use 27 but the Delta A330 and Lufthansa 747 and JAL 787 seem to use 22L most of the time....

If you have a scanner or I phone the approach freq. for JAL is 118.250 that should give you the runway that will be used.... for the arrival

Hopefully you will get it the next time you get up here...

Normally, I would have had LiveATC going. However, I was with my girlfriend and just wanted to be quick about it, so I headed to the active runway at the time. Really didn't see the abrupt switching coming. by the time I figured it out, it was too late.
