A C-130 Hercules firefighting aircraft crashed while combating a blaze in southwestern South Dakota on Sunday. The condition of the crew was not immediately known. The crew and aircraft were assigned to the 145th Airlift Wing of the North Carolina ANG, based out of CLT. Reports out of Charlotte are that at least 4 of the 6 man crew were lost, and at least one is hospitalized in serious condition.

I had the opportunity to catch a couple of the 145th's birds down at CLT on my recent visit, and from reports I've heard, this may be the aircraft lost, 93-1563.
