    Was explosion a hoax?

Last evenings' newscasts spent over 30 minutes each flying over Sandy Hook. Supposedly a charter "Blind Date" exploded with several passengers badly injured. Coast Guard choppers and others went searching 17 miles east of the Hook and found nothing. If a hoax, how sad some people have nothing better to do. If the story is true, the survivors were supposed to be in lifeboats. Any comments?

A whole lot of fuel was used up by at last 8 helicopters last night. 6 medivac, and at least 2 media. Plus all the ambulances, emergency buses, fire trucks, etc. I seriously doubt they will find who called in the hoax, but if they do, maximum penalty needed to be handed down. What if an actual emergency occurred and needed this type of response. SOL.

Since Acquiring a marine VHF radio is easy and inexpensive these hoax distress calls happen more than you think or hear about. Last night"s went to another level. Usually the kids playing on the radio make up a fake boat name and say they are taking on water. But to use an actual ships name and say the vessel exploded was huge

And in all likely hood the person(s) involved will brevet be caught

Someone called in a sinking sailboat hoax in the same area almost exactly a year ago: http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local...123809624.html
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
