Was just going to post this after seeing pictures from friend who lives outside the main gate. http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_n...virginia-beach
Glad the pilots ejected. I can hear the NIMBYs crawling out of the woodwork already.

The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
Of particular note in one of the wreckage pictures is the nozzle from the starboard engine at full power yet the port side is not.

I hope the aviators and everyone on the ground is safe.

UPDATE: 7 injured, 3 refused treatment, 4 transported to hospitals, including the 2 pilots.
No fatalities, though three buildings are too unstable to search, so that could change.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Can't believe no one died in this. Quite a miracle.

He's actually not too far off about the nimbys. There are a lot of folks around VA Beach that have already been making a lot of noise (pun intended) about Oceana. So much so that it is on the next BRAC list for consideration. Not saying that Oceana will be closing but it is being considered. Cecil field reopening or a relocation to more rural NC are possibilities. Maybe I should really try to get down to a show at Oceana before its too late?
