    Flying through turbulence on purpose? That has got to be the dumbest thing I ever heard. That's like saying every driver in America wants to chase tornadoes in the middle of the country and drive through the center of one! Geesh...

    Great article... I do my own share of educating in the back of your plane as well :-) Just recently, while flying Continental back from LAX to EWR, we had serious storms in NYC and we get queued over PA. The gentleman next to me was TERRIFIED of the storms which we could see in the distance. HE even says "we are going into the belly of the beast"

    After telling him how planes are built to literally superman strength and how pilots spend more time training for poor weather flying and emergencies much more than your local taxi, bus or subway driver, the fellow pax felt much better going through some of the worst turbulence even I had been through!
