This wasn't the first instance of this lately for US Airways. When I was heading back to CT from Reno on the 5th I was lucky enough to be able to check in as soon as the ticket counter opened. Shortly after I had checked in the system went down that day. I was sitting on what was supposed to be a full flight but only had about 50 of us on an A319. Overheard the flight attendant say that the computer system had gone down and no one could check in, and that it was system wide, not just in that airport. Caused us to leave about 30 mins late.

The fact that they can't switch or don't have a backup server is pretty scary.... If you're telling me US has only one data center for their entire network it truly shows what a poor company it is.
