Dealey Plaza, Dallas TX

During a trip to Addison TX recently I found some time to make it to downtown Dallas and pay a visit to Dealey Plaza. Considering it is one of the most [in]famous plots of land in US history, you would think there would be more here to mark it...but it's pretty basic. If you didn't know better you could drive right past and not have any idea.

I did the same thing last year it was quite historic. I actually stood where Abraham Zapruder was standing when he took the famous video then went across the street where Mary Moorman was when she took the famous photo of Kennedy right before he was killed.





You get into the museum? They preserved the spot where Oswald shot from in plexiglass the way it was that day. It was incredible. I then drove the route they took to Parkland.

We didn't have time for the museum unfortunately - I wish we did. But I did stand where the Zapruder film was taken and drove the route. Glad I did it.

Something I have to do one day. I am passionate about the whole JFK affair, I read dozens of books about it and "JFK" is my favorite movie of all time. Superb shots Jer.

I go to Addison quite often....... Next time you are there let me know. Maybe I'll swing through for the day. Dallas is like my 30th home. LMAO.

I had a chance to visit about 10 years ago. I remember going behind the fence and was surprised to see the accumulated graffiti(ie "CIA was here") over the years pertaining to that November day. Looks like a new clean fence in your shot. I don't remember seeing the "X" on Elm Street. Wonder when that was put there... Strange thing about that Dallas trip was how deserted the city was.

I visited the museum in '98 while I was waiting for an Amtrak to take me back north. What a morbid place. Very eerie sensation to be right next to that glassed-off spot in the museum, looking down at the street, and know what happened there. Never noticed the X on the street though.

Yep standing on that floor was really eerie. They had the window next to the glassed in part open and I looked out at the view Oswald would had. Also walked to where I believe the grassy knoll gunman shot from. The thing that got me was how small the area was. JFk didn't have a chance.

I've been to Dallas a bunch of times for work and went to the museum (which is amazing in my view). I can't believe how small and confined the area is........as stated......JFK didn't have a chance.
