    Some *Old* Photos

I was going through some boxes in the attic a few weeks ago, and came across an old photo album. Lots of old pictures, including a bunch of aviation related. I spent some time scanning them in tonight, let's see what we have...

One of my earliest aviation photos - out the window of a TWA 747, returning home from a family vacation in San Fransisco, July 1972.

Air France Concorde F-BTSD at JFK Hangar 14 in March 1981, during an engine run-up following an engine change. They used Hangar 17 for the work.

American Eagle Airlines 707, N402PA, a former Pan Am aircraft.

Eastern Airlines DC-9-31, N8985E, ready to depart Rwy 13R. Later used by Midway Airlines and Aero Republica Colombia. Last seen stored in Johansburg, South Africa, in 2007

This one is for you, Fred! Sorry, I don't have a registration on it.

The first of three 747SPs operated by TWA, N58201.

Nick, you've shot it in its current colors...

I wish this one was better, but the original was pretty well back-lit. Capitol Airways DC-8-61 - a charter airline not to be confused with Capital Airlines.

El Al 747F, 4X-AXG - when I checked the registration, I realized this was the 747F that crashed into the apartment building in the suburbs of Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1992, after losing two engines shortly after takeoff.

Except for the first image, all were taken at JFK in the 1980 - 1981.

I also found some military subjects...

We'll start at the US Air Force Museum, July 1972. This was when the XB-70 and other large aircraft were stored outside. They have since greatly expanded the museum buildings, and the XB-70 is housed in the Experimental Aircraft Hangar.

B-52B 53-0394 "City of El Paso" It was scrapped in 1984, and the nose section acquired by Walter Soplata in Ohio.

That's me in May 1979 with an RF-4C at the McGuire Air Force Base Open House.

The USAF Thunderbirds, flying T-38s, at the McGuire Open House.

Back to JFK, 1981 (I think) Air Force C-141 at Hangar 17, dropping off Secret Service vehicles for an upcoming Presidential visit to NYC.

Great stuff Moose. One of these days I have to go through my photos as well and scan them in who knows what I'll find in the attic.

Excellent collection Moose. I always enjoyed circa 1980s aviation photos.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
