Selling 100-400 - $1000

Still looking to sell the lens. Dropped the price is $1,000. Average used price sampling adorama, b&h, and craigslist is about $1150. New is between $1500-$1600 US market at reputable retailers. Comes with case, hood, & end caps. Box is in Boston from when I moved...if you really want it I can probably get ahold of it. Pics available on request.

Nothing at the moment quite replaces it...I'm waiting to see if the new version III extenders are as good as I hope they'll be on the 70-200 f/2.8 II...otherwise I'm working toward a big prime.

The biggest problem most will have with better quality is flexibility. I love my 200-400mm f/4 and it is somewhat flexible being a short zoom range but there are A LOT of times when I want to zoom back to 70mm and can't :-) So I carry two bodies. The 100-400mm Canon and the Nikon 80-400mm are aa lot of fun because they are soo flexible. At the Mounds, they kick ass. The 200-400mm kicks it in places like HoBe and Panera.

Primes are terrific when you just need (want) that one shot. And of course, the quality. I am always amazed I complain about poor images from my 200-400mm and I always get remind the next day that it is me me me me. I sometimes take scary sharp pictures at 400mm wide open at f/4. Can;t say the same about my old 80-400 or 50-500 Bigmas I have owened and sold. I wish I had them back in my bag for those times when flexibility trumps quality (Sub-Zero weather at The Mounds where you don;t want to carry around two large bodies/lenses. Or when you must go up on a small helicopter at an airshow and you can only take one body/lens)
