    Questions about LGA

I just noticed that the official diagram of LGA does not show the location of the Marine Air Terminal nor does it show the new control tower. Is the new tower in operation yet? I happened to notice a "Sea World Shamu" SouthWest aircraft coming-in to land yesterday. It ressembled a whale. It probably arrived on Rwy 31. There seems to be no flights in/out of LGA in the early mornings as Passur shows none. Does LGA shut-down at night? It's site says it's open 24/7. See you on Kids Day.

    - The Marine Air Terminal is listed as the "General Aviation Terminal" on the airport diagram.

    - The new control tower is not in operation yet. Perhaps later this fall. A new diagram will come out then.

    - The airfield is generally closed from midnight to 6am to fixed-wing aircraft due due to noise restrictions. Delayed arrivals and sports charters are often given exception.

It's not officially shut down overnight, but no flights are scheduled to keep the neighbors happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

A self imposed curfew is the term used.

In actuality, to correct on the curfuew topic.... The curfuew is from April to the end of the summer or at least whence last I was involved in those types of topics it was. The reason is not or was not for noise issues. It is actually for annual resurfacing and remarking of the runways as well as micro coating taxiways. This could be a year round thing now newly imposed for noise issues that I am not aware of but when last I was there it was as stated above. LGA777 would be the resident expert for the current activities though.
