    Friday Medevac Question

So I heard on the radio that a woman working in a factory in Farmingdale had her arm
severed in an accident. Now according to Newsday she was flown by medevac (NCPD?)
to NUMC but then had to be medevaced a 2nd time, NCPD again?, to Stony Brook where doctors were successfull in reattaching the arm.
My question is does NUMC have a microsurgery team? And if not why was she initially taken there and not flown directly to Stony Brook?
Just curious about the double flight.

Can't answer the medical question, but it's possible they took her to NUMC first as it was the closest Level 1 trauma center, and they wanted to get her to the hospital and stabilized before evaluating further treatment.

moose has it right. stabilize first, then the rest.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
