For the first time, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship will take place over the Hudson River on June 19 & 20.
> The Red Bull Air Race features the world's best pilots in a motorsports competition that uses the fastest, most agile and lightweight racing planes.
> Pilots navigate one-at-a-time a low-level aerial track made up of air-filled pylons.
> Each race is a two-day competition with a Qualifying and Race Day.
Since the race will not be viewable from Lower Manhattan frequent ferry service and transportation will be available.
Per federal regulation, no planes will fly around or within 500 feet of any person, building or landmark
Before the Red Bull Air Race arrives, we want you to know that:
> We respect the safety and security concerns of the people in New York and New Jersey, especially in regard to aircraft. Flying will begin on Thursday, June 17.
> We are working closely with local officials to ensure safety not only for the pilots, but also for the spectators, residents and crew members.
> The Red Bull Air Race planes are high performance planes and they do generate an exciting roar as they pass by the spectators. The noise level runs about 80-90 decibels and that's about the level of noise that a lawnmower or a motorcycle at 25ft away makes.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
