Turkish A340-300 Returning to JFK for the Summer

Turkish Airlines will increase IST-JFK-IST service from daily to 10x weekly between July 11 and Sept 10.

Existing flights will continue to operate with the 777-300ER, but the 3 added flights will run on A340-300 aircraft, which stopped flying to NY in fall 2009.

Unfortunately for spotters, arrival time is after dark at 9pm local, heading back to Istanbul at 11:30pm.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Wow that's a pretty significant capacity increase for the IST route. I'm sure they are competing heavily with DL as well. Great news though!

I believe this is the third summer in a row that Turkish has added this seasonal increase to the route. In 2008 the additional flight was operated with a mix of the A330-200 and A30-300.
