5 Dead after A300 crashes in Monterrey

Tues April 13th an LAX bound AeroUnion Airbus A300B4F, XA-TUE goes down outside of Monterrey Airport in the hotel area just after take off, 5 people were so far reported dead

Oh Lordy not again!,
I shot this aircraft at ORD in April, 2002.

If you want to live..do not fly on planes I have shot. Two planes in one week this and the Polish TU-154.

Looks like at least 3 dead on the ground so far, and though not confirmed, the Captain and FO may have been Father and Son. Did a little research, this was one of the 10 oldest A-300's flying, originally with Air France then Air Seychells as F-BVGM.

R.I.P. to those lost last night.

I read that it was a Father and Son flying the aircraft. I can only imagine how cool that would be.
Shouldn't this early model of the A300 (A300B4-203F) have a Flight Engineer? That would make the death toll six.

An AeroUnion Airbus A-300B4-200, registration XA-TUE performing freight flight 6R-302 from Mexico City to Monterrey (Mexico) with 5 crew, lost height while on approach to Monterrey International Airport's runway 11 and impacted ground. Parts of the debris including a wing and an engine ended up on the airport highway (parallel to runway 11/29) at around 23:30L (04:30Z Apr 14th). All on board perished, one person on the highway is reported killed, the airplane was destroyed. A large fire broke out.

Mexican Police has cordoned the area off.

Mexican Authorities confirmed 5 fatalities saying, that two people were on the aircraft and three on the ground. The airplane had just departed Monterrey towards Los Angeles when it hit the ground.

Airbus reported, that the airplane was flying from Mexico City to Monterrey and on approach to Monterrey in rain showers and thunderstorms, when it impacted ground. The airframe was the first built in 1979, was converted to a freighter in 1998 and was acquired by AeroUnion in 2002. The airplane had accumulated about 55200 flight hours in approx. 27600 cycles and was powered by CF6 engines.

Flight TNO-302 (6R-302) had originated in Mexico City and was to fly to Los Angeles via an intermediate stop in Monterrey.

Looks like a microburst or wind shear may have played a role in the crash. RIP to those who perished.

I shot this aircraft at LAX back in 2008. Very strange feeling to have shot an aircraft that has crashed where people have perished. RIP to all who died.

Sad event. 3 accidents within a week makes for some weird statistics.

I saw XA-TUE once or twice a few years ago in Miami but couldn't shoot it. While still in ICC tail someone called me to give me the heads up but overslept and missed it (now kicking myself). Aero Union used to come normally at night and rarely at that. XA-TUE lately made an appearance for the Haiti earthquake relief but TNO are only scheduled into LAX and ORD in the US.

I would like to clear that up: the captain's son was indeed on board but he was an observer. Captain and FO were unrelated.

During my six year stay in Chicago they had come in only two times. The first time was when I saw it fly over my house at like 5000feet. I obsessed with trying to find out what it was. Then I had a second chance after that...Glad I got it.

Yes that Seychelles is very nice looking.
