    Anti-Virus Software

i'm in need of a new antivirus software. for the most part i liked AVG the best, but lately after installing it on my computers they would take forever to boot and would open the "my documents" folder twice for no reason while the computer was booting. it was more annoying than a major problem, but AVG did really slow down my computer significantly.

here's the kicker, i now have a couple computers running windows 7 and most still running XP. i'd like one antivirus to run on both systems. i have malwarebytes anti-malware and use that on my laptop. is that program even the same as an antivirus?

    anyone have any recommendations?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Microsoft Security Essentials. I have it on both my PCs and love it. Great anti virus program, doesn't hog system resouces, and its free.

I'm using Avast on all my machines at home - it's free - but - it's the only free one I know of that has a boot time scan.

I was using Avast too Mark, but on my laptop first running Vista, and now Windows 7 it would freeze up after about an hour of scanning and I'd have to restart the machine. Maybe I have the bare minimum Ram...

Now I have NOD 32, but it isn't free.

Malwarebytes is really good but you have to run a scan. On my PC it takes several hours to complete and after having NOD32, Malwarebytes never found anything again.

Both the Vista and Windows 7 machines have 4Gb of memory - no problems with Avast at all here..

I'll 3rd T-Bird76. MS Security Essentials seems to do the trick.
