    Tropical Storm Danny

Well it looks as if there's a good chance we may get hit with Tropical/Hurricane Danny this Saturday. The winds both east and west are very favorable for a land fall on Long Island either as a Tropical Storm or Cat 1 hurricane. I'm hoping it moves farther east and any effect to the area is minimal.

I've been on a few weather boards watching this one. I really hope it doesn't come near us. Even if we just get some heavy surf I don't think the beaches can take it after what I saw at Jones Beach this weekend

Remember, even if this thing is offshore, the beaches are still going to take a beating. Hopefully it really swings east, and we are spared the worst of it.

Those are two very good points about the beaches. Right now they are weakened and there's no way to repair them in time. A direct hit to Long Island could be devastating to Fire Island right now.

If its not too bad I'll head over to Jones Saturday after work to see what it looks like. As beach as the beach looked this weekend it was amazing to see the power of the waves.

One of the best hurricane tracker sites I've seen is our local NBC station in West Palm - link below. Latest track has the cone of error missing NYC - so it's will probably be a rain and wind event - without the HEAVY winds.

Wow, that is a gorgeous map. Bookmarked!
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

And as I opened this thread, News12 is warning for the worst.

We shall see. Thankfully, we live near the summit of Long Island. :)
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

I guess it's good that they are at least telling people what could hit... right now Danny is a mess down there. Not really sure what he is going to do>

We probably wont know until tomorrow night but good to stock up on the essentials now like booze and
batteries and make sure your cell phones and scanners and everything else fully charged. And your vehicles
    topped off.
I was at the beach yesterday and today and it has been absolutely gorgeous. Today I didnt go until 2Pm
as the clouds moved out to the SW. It turned out to be a fantastic day and the water has finally warmed up, and with no riptides I did some great body surfing!!
