NTSB Hearings - Bird Proof Engines

I just saw this on MSNBC.

Ok - bird proof engine - many expert in the industry have explained at great lengths about covering (essentially) the intake. Am I just being picky or are they going to look at tires that can't puncture next?

it doesn't matter how much money is invested into technology to resist damage to a/c. as long as birds and airplanes share the same skies they will continue to collide from time to time. the large intakes of today's high-bypass turbofans are prime targets.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Just get some chicken wire and a windshield wiper, and you should be set! :borat:
